  •        The prescription of "Ban Xia He Wei Ke Li" originated from Banxia Xiexin decoction in Zhang Zhongjing's Treatise on Febrile Cold in Han Dynasty. To pinellia, dried ginger Xinwen sanjie Xiaozhu, to temper cold and Yin; Scutellaria, Coptis, cold to relieve, clear the heat of stomach qi and Yang; Wu Codonopsis, licorice, jujube for the spleen and stomach to harmonize the drugs, tonifying qi and strengthening spleen to strengthen the acquired root. The whole formula is mainly used for gastric epigastric pain caused by spleen deficiency and stomach heat, abdominal distension, fatigue, reduced stomach appetite, acid regurgitation, dry mouth and bitter mouth, loose stool or unpleasant. It can also be used for the above symptoms of chronic superficial gastritis and peptic ulcer. It is recognized as an effective representative of harmonizing the stomach and intestines by doctors in our country.

           Pharmacological and toxicological studies have shown that Ban Xia He Wei Ke Li has obvious antibacterial, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It can regulate the propulsive movement of small intestine in mice in both directions. It can inhibit helicobacter pylori. The pathological changes of gastric tissue in rats with chronic gastritis were improved. Acute toxicity and long toxicity tests showed that no toxic reaction was found by blood cytology, blood biochemistry and histopathology.

           The Phase III clinical study conducted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, the Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Chinese Medicine, the Affiliated Hospital of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine, and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine showed that Ban Xia He Wei Ke Li can significantly improve various clinical symptoms related to the syndrome of spleen deficiency and stomach heat of gastric epigastric pain, among which the total clinical effective rate for chronic superficial gastritis is 98.8%, the total clinical effective rate for peptic ulcer (syndrome of spleen deficiency and stomach heat) is 97.0%, and the pain relief effect for peptic ulcer is faster.
